RSC Crop - Challenge #1
Make sure to head over to www.readysetcreate.com sometime between now and next Friday - Jen has a weeklong crop going and loads of prizes. It is great because there is none of the hectic pace of getting things done in one weekend, it is easy like the few summer days that remain.
Anyways, the first challenge will be posted in about ten minutes by yours truly, but it will be simple: Get out the newest thing you've recently purchased and use it on a project. I don't care if it a layout, card or altered but use the new stuff! I went to the LSS (I call it local even though it was an hour away) and got the Scenic Route summer release Sumner collection. It screams fall. I got some new thickers too, the cream soda ones, which I used as well. Can't wait to keep cropping, I love how much I get done during these things...

Sunshine and buckets
I will admit it, while I found it easy to use the flowers and punctuation from the AC Playhouse collections, the summertime one with the buckets, suns, and fish was a little daunting. I think I came up with a fun use for them, and really like the effect of this layout. I liked using the sage green in the sun instead of just sticking to yellows and oranges. I think the effect is soothing and summery, reminds me of lemon lime. Anyways...

Some more AC fun...
I've been working on these two last night and today, they were some fun. The one about my nephew is a little sad, we don't have any kind of decent relationship like I would like because of too much drama with his parents. My hope for the future is that we find a way to bond, but I will see if that is possible...that's right, only in time. It looks better in person, I think it looks a little flat scanned in. Oh well. I am going to use up the stash of AC I have for the sake of trying for the DT and, well, for the sake of ridding my supply of some more stash!

American Crafts past...
Heather sent me an email pointing me towards the American Crafts design team call and it is ever so tempting. My guess is that there will be oodles of kick booty chicks who apply, but I think I will still take a chance and try. I am going to post what I've done up to now with AC stuff and then I think I will get to work with some new projects and get them on here before I apply. Anyways, here's the older stuff (and I mean papers, the thickers are already on absolutely EVERYTHING I've done lately!)... I am sure there are more, but this is what I seeso far... off to create some more. Fingers crossed that I come up with some bueno stuff so I feel ready to apply for the DT...

the BYOM kit stuff...
...from the RSC Aug/Sept issue. One of the kits was American Crafts, the other Love, Elsie. The American Crafts was their premier kit, and those colors are so much fun! The thickers are amazing, and they go further than any other alphas because they go with so much and you can cut them easily to make other letters. Seriously, I've almost used every letter in my brown root beers, and that never happens!

DT postings
Thought I'd go ahead and put in some of my favorite contributions to Ready-Set-Create online magazine for the August/September - it was a great issue! If you aren't a subscriber, check it out at www.readysetcreate.com and sit back and take in hundreds of awesome, inspiring projects. I am hoping that the exposure that kit club BYOM got in my Kit Club review article will help them grow, and I look forward to covering TWO kit clubs in my kit club review column next issue. We have a lot of great things planned for the next issue, so get signed up if you aren't already.

Mmm..
Thought I'd commemorate Dylan's first popsicle with this LO, this Scenic Route paper was made for summer! I wish I had gotten to use the paper a little more, but I started seeing it everywhere and it made me want to leave it alone. I loved the little Gymboree shirt in the pic and it begged for the paper, so I had to give in. I liked using diagonals after doing one of Cam's 4th birthday for RSC, and this was along that same line, very simple.

Summer loving
Finished Premonition and it didn't end like that at all. I won't say how since someone might go rent it, but I was still a tiny bit surprised by the ending. Today was Blockbuster day (and for some reason we are on the three rental plan but they sent us four from the place not including what I traded out at the store, so I have a ton), and I had also rented some unknown movie called Mimi's First something or other. I got it because it had several B actors I like and Alec Baldwin who I find charming somehow even though I could get lost in his neck. I like the fact that he's an a-hole, what can I say? It was somewhat interesting (the back cover promised seduction and murder, who am I to pass that up?), I liked Carrie Anne Moss's character especially and how they "take care" of her. Anyway, while I watching that B movie I made the following LO. Understand that it is a scraplift of Heather's "Taking a Stand" and by lift I mean I straight up copied it. Whatever, that's what friends are for. Dylan has a 3 Shreks a day habit going, so I am off for my second viewing of the day. Ugh.
Dylan's first plane ride
I did this LO last night and wasn't really feeling it. Something about the ribbon is very dated, but I really am liking the little MM word stickers that came in the MFM kit. Now I don't have to use up all my little vowels on dumb, boring words like "it," "is," "as," and so on.
I am watching Premonition right now and I have a feeling that this is going to end like Kate Chopin's "Story of An Hour" where the woman finds out her husband is dead and then comes to the realization that life is going to be awesome without him and she can finally live solely for herself. Then he walks through the door and she dies of a heart attack, allegedly from the devestation of having all that opportunity taken away. Anyway, the movie would be better if that's how it goes. She may save him and then I will be bored and it would be predictable. I think I will get the scrap stuff out now...

Motown Philly
Used Liz's sketch and came up with this, great for unloading pics and Elsie. I like the Elsie stuff, don't get me wrong, but I ended up with too much of the crap and I still had loads to go through (as in I haven't even touched my Roxie orRiley!) Plus, it is a challenge to keep it looking like my stuff and not an Elsie clone-a-roo. Anyways, here is the LO from Philly.
